Jarvis T. Dillard
Jarvis Dillard is an educator, entrepreneur, and advocate for teacher well-being. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, he was raised by two loving parents who instilled in him the values of service, perseverance, and community.
His journey into education began at The University of Texas at Austin, where a mentor recognized his potential to make a difference in the classroom and encouraged him to apply to Teach For America. After being accepted into the program, Jarvis relocated from Austin to New Orleans during the COVID-19 pandemic to begin his teaching career.

Now in his seventh year as an educator, Jarvis teaches English IV at John F. Kennedy High School in New Orleans. His firsthand experiences in the classroom have fueled his passion for supporting educators beyond their instructional roles. Inspired by both the challenges and the resilience of teachers, he founded The Off Block—a community dedicated to helping educators connect, care for themselves, and continue thriving in the profession. Through this work, Jarvis hopes to transform the way teachers are supported, creating spaces and experiences that help them build fulfilling, sustainable careers in education.
